Aberdeen Folk Club

Two of the Aberdeen folk scene’s biggest heroes; Bob Knight and Danny Couper, leading the crowd in one northeast Scottish ballad each. Aberdeen Folk Club meet every Wednesday evening at the Blue Lamp. Any singer or instrumentalist can join, and every evening is made up of the ones present that very day.

The Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland helps foster and promote Scotland’s unique musical traditions.

You have a second chance to attend a Wee Red Book or Norman Buchan?s ?101 Scottish Songs? Concert in association with Collins & Celtic Connections, on Saturday 21 January, 7.30pm, at St Andrews in the Square, Glasgow – featuring another array of Scotland?s finest singers bringing the songs to life.

If you can’t make it or want to catch up – you can get the recording of the first Celtic Connections Launch concert from 2016, from the TMSA shop buy here. The shop page also has a link you can follow if you want to get a copy of the book from the publishers. The event was filmed by Gill and Stuart Duncan of Red Barn Studios whose skill, expertise and extremely good ears ensured that this DVD will be something to treasure. Thanks to all that helped with its making. We will also be recording the second concert!

W tym roku znowu pogramy razem 🙂

Come and join us at Aberdeen Folk Club. We meet every Wednesday at 8.30pm at the Blue Lamp, 121 Gallowgate, Aberdeen AB25 1BU. This year we have a great programme of music and song from visiting and local artists. There is also an opportunity for singers and musicians to take part in our regular sessions which are open to members and non-members. Aberdeen Folk Club celebrated its 50th Birthday in 2012. Come and join us as we look forward to the next 50 years.

Pub Royal Oak Edinburgh

Ostatnimi czasy bywamy w Szkocji. Ogólna zasada tych wyjazdów to: w dzień zamki i destylarnie a potem puby, te w których śpiewają czyli otwarte sesje tradycyjnej pieśni szkockiej.

Pierwsza uwaga: nie jest łatwo, większość sesji zawłaszczyli młodzi dżigo-rile, a ten rodzaj muzyki cechuje się pewną specyfiką ;). Dlatego postanowiłem tu prowadzić spis lokali, w których organoleptycznie sprawdziłem co się dzieje i potwierdzam, że śpiewają a nie ścigają się:
