Na stronie Tony Dixon Music (producent whistle) pojawił się przystępny “tutorial” dla początkujących w grze na tym instrumencie:
If you’ve bought a high D whistle, and find it a bit loud or shrill, there are other keys available. (The fact that I make whistles and flutes has nothing to do with the last statement). The larger the whistle, the deeper it is, and it usually follows that the holes will be larger and more widely spaced, which may make things a bit awkward for the complete newcomer.

“Echa Celtyckie 2″W sierpniu 2003, na Festiwalu Kultury Celtyckiej w Dowspudzie miała miejsce premiera płyty “ECHA CELTYCKIE 2” (firma Anymusic). Krążek jest kontynuacją wydanej rok wcześniej płyty “Echa Celtyckie”, na której zawarto utwory znane z tradycyjnych wykonań w Irlandii i Szkocji, przygotowane przez trzy polskie zespoły: “The Irish Connection”, Ulę Kapałę z zespołem oraz Dudy Juliana.Ukazanie się pierwszych “Ech Celtyckich” stało się także impulsem do zaistnienia nowej warszawskiej imprezy, prezentującej zespoły z kręgów muzyki irlandzkiej i szkockiej. Jej gospodarzem jest grupa THE IRISH CONNECTION, w trakcie każdej edycji “Ech Celtyckich” (bo również taką nazwę nadano imprezie) towarzyszą jej zaproszeni goście – zespoły i soliści, czy też grupy tańca celtyckiego. Dotychczas pojawili się na niej m.in. Rimead, Ula Kapała z zespołem, Dudy Juliana, David Hopkins czy też Tancerze Zakonu Czarnego Smoka Reelandia. Na płycie “ECHA CELTYCKIE 2” zamieszczono tym razem 16 utworów pochodzących z Irlandii i Szkocji. W nagraniach udział wzięła grupa “The Irish Connection”, Ula Kapała z zespołem i Mirek Kozak (Open Folk). Jak nietrudno się domyśleć, cytuje ten artykuł bo gram na trzecim (powyżej) typie instrumentów: piszczałki i flety. Proste pierwotne instrumenty, jak widać do dziś w użyciu (pomijam materiały z jakiego są wykonywane) nadal dają największe możliwości artykulacji… bo są proste (przez co też są trudniejsze). Tak, piszczałki to muzyka korzeni :).

Brzmienie whistle między sobą nie różnią “aż tak bardzo” ale jednak jest różnica… jest ona między innymi konsekwencją kształtu ostrza gwizdka, planuję taki dla porównania 🙂
Every Alba whistle is made from a high grade aluminium alloy and has a fipple plug made of albanite. The plug comes in a variety of colours but as the colours vary from batch to batch, unfortunately they cannot be specified with your order. Professor Nicholas Conard of the University in Tuebingen shows a flute during a press conference in Tuebingen, southern Germany, on Wednesday.The thin bird-bone flute carved some 35,000 years ago and unearthed in a German cave is the oldest handcrafted musical instrument yet discovered.
